US Government’s Climate Con-Job

US Government’s Climate Con-Job

J. D. Longstreet

**************

America’s Christian community is a bit stunned – and - somewhat overwhelmed with the attack on Nature’s God by those in our own government who vehemently explain that they are attacking Nature’s God in the Name of Nature “herself”(?). If this paragraph leaves you somewhat confused, welcome to the club!

The largest portion of American Christians is taught, from the cradle up, and from Genesis forward, (in the bible) that God created the Earth for man and man was charged with being a good steward of the planet. Man was given divine permission to use the planet, and use the bounty of the planet, but - to use it wisely.

For man to use the resources of Earth wisely, man had to wait eons, it seems to understand the earth, and the world around him, until he actually had the knowledge and the wherewithal to manage the earth as that “good steward” God had appointed.

We have not yet arrived at the optimum period in our stay on this planet when it will be possible to provide for our needs without drawing from the earths storehouses of bounty. So we continue to use the resources provided for us through Nature by Nature’s God. But we are close. The oil and coal is ours to use, as is the bounty of the sea, and game of the forest, and the seeds of the field – all ours - provided for our use by our God.

When the day comes on which we will be able to switch from the use of coal and oil to a man-made synthetic that will do the job just as well, then we will do so - and we will stop withdrawing from Nature’s storehouse of petroleum. It is the common sense way of things. It is the way our survival was insured.

God did not plop man down on a barren planet and allow us to fend for ourselves. He situated us on a planet of plenty and carefully explained that everything we needed to survive was here and we had permission to use it wisely.

For most of our time on this earth, man has used earth’s resources wisely. Well, considering that for the largest part of our sojourn here we did not even know what that meant. But we learned. And we learned to use those resources to better our lives and to create those things we humans require for existence - and then we had the time to create things of beauty in the many and varied forms of art, and so on.

And then, unfortunately, some of us discovered they could control thier fellow man by controlling the use of the earth’s resources. In a manner of speaking –that was when Satan entered the garden!

From that time forth, right up to this day and this hour, we have been in turmoil. Using God’s gifts as weapons tends to do that to those who abuse his generosity.

Today, here in America, formerly the greatest country on earth, those who govern us seek to use God’s gifts to control God’s people, and, ultimately, to enslave God’s people to the yoke of Godless socialism.

Just days ago the US house of Representatives passed a bill that would control the use of all those natural resources in such a manner as to make Americans serfs on their own land. Many of us in the Christian community do not believe that is good stewardship of the bounty of this earth by our government, nor by any government that seeks to gain power for itself at the expense of the people it governs.

The US Senate must now approve the bill before it goes to the President for his signature. Those of us in the Christian community, especially the Christian conservative community, must take advantage of this time window before the Senate brings the bill to the floor for debate and consideration. We must contact our senators and let them know, in no uncertain terms, how we feel about this nation-crushing bill.

Conservatives all over America are gearing up to fight this power grab by our government. Those of us who can are speaking out against this bill.

I received the article below from a fellow conservative a few days ago. He, too, is furious - and - like so many of us who understand what this bill, as law, would do to the America we have known, is a bit frightened by how easy it has been for the Obama Regime to "pull the wool over the eyes" of such a large portion of the American electorate.

Paul Driessen is senior policy advisor for the "Committee For A Constructive Tomorrow" and "Congress of Racial Equality", and author of Eco-Imperialism: Green Power, Black Death. He has hit the nail directly on the head in this piece.

Please read what Paul has written below. Again, we ask that you contact your Senators and demand that they vote "NO" on this Cap and Trade bill.

It is no overstatement to say that if this bill passes, and is signed into law, America, as we have known it, will be gone, quite likely, forever!

Thank you!

US Government’s Climate Con-Job
Obama administration “report” on climate change is deceitful, scare-mongering, bogus science
By: Paul Driessen
**********************
Suppose a company doctored data, misrepresented study findings, replaced observations with computer simulations, and hired PR flacks to promote its new “wonder drug.” News stories, congressional hearings, and subpoenas would be in overdrive. Fines and jail sentences would follow. And rightly so.

But the standards change when “climate catastrophe” is involved.

The White House has made global warming the centerpiece of its revenue-raising and energy policies. A House of Representatives 942-page bill would tax, regulate and penalize all US hydrocarbon energy use, to “save the planet from climate disaster.” The Senate promises an August vote.

But average global temperatures peaked in 1998 and since have fallen slightly, even as carbon dioxide levels continue to climb. Thousands of scientists say CO2 has little effect on planetary temperatures, and there is no climate crisis. Few developed countries are ready to commit economic suicide, by agreeing to reduce their CO2 emissions by a fraction of what the House bill demands for the United States.

Americans are beginning to realize the legislation would cost millions of jobs and trillions of dollars for a hypothetical 0.1 degree F reduction in global temperatures. Most put global warming dead last in a Pew Research list of 20 concerns.

The government’s answer to these inconvenient truths is simple.

Issue another report by government scientists carefully selected to exclude any who don’t subscribe to climate Armageddon. Ignore contrary data and analyses. Crank out more bogus computer-generated worst-case scenarios. Hire an activist media firm that specializes in environmental scare campaigns. And spend tens of millions hyping every imaginable climate disaster:Rising sea levels, floods in lower Manhattan, California beaches permanently submerged. Ferocious hurricanes, floods and droughts. Food shortages, epidemic diseases, a quadrupling of heat-wave deaths in Chicago. Aged sewer systems convulsing from massive storm runoff. Wildflowers disappearing from Rocky Mountain slopes and polar bears from the Arctic. Leisure time gone, as people struggle to survive.

“Global Climate Change Impacts in the United States” is the “most up-to-date, authoritative, comprehensive” analysis ever done on how human-caused warming affects the United States, deadpans Obama “science” advisor John Holdren.

Actually, it’s the most flagrant attempted con-job and propaganda campaign in US history.
If it helps Congress enact cap-and-tax legislation, it will give activists, courts and bureaucrats control over virtually every aspect of our lives. It will enable them to confiscate hard-earned dollars, convert them to payoffs for activists and companies that get on the climate-crisis bandwagon, consign uncooperative companies and scientists to the ash heap of history, and conceal the exorbitant costs of restrictive energy policies – on families, industries, jobs and transportation – until long after the bill becomes law.
The bogus “report” conflates and confuses human activities and emissions with the powerful natural forces that have caused major and minor climate changes and weather anomalies since the dawn of time – from the Carboniferous Period to the Age of Dinosaurs, from the Big Ice Ages and interglacial periods to the Little Ice Age, Roman and Medieval Warm Periods, Dust Bowl and countless others. It relies on conjecture, conformist thinking and conspicuous elimination of contrary, skeptical, realist scientists and studies that do not support climate cataclysm conjecture and ideology.
The authors “largely ignored” critical comments to earlier drafts and made the final version “even more alarmist” than infamous UN “summaries” of global warming “crises,” says Joseph D’Aleo, first director of meteorology at the Weather Channel and former chairman of the American Meteorological Society’s Weather Analysis and Forecasting Committee. The report is simply “wrong on many of its claims” and marks “an embarrassing episode for the authors and NOAA,” D’Aleo concludes.
University of Colorado environmental studies professor Roger Pielke, Jr. says the report “misrepresents” his own work, makes claims that are not supported by citations provided, relies heavily on analyses that were never peer reviewed, ignores peer-reviewed studies that reach opposite conclusions from those proclaimed by the report, and cites analyses that do not support conclusions rendered.“I didn’t notice a single recognized hurricane expert in the list of authors,” says NOAA Hurricane Research Division scientist Stanley Goldenberg. The report relies heavily on surface temperature data from monitoring stations located next to parking lots and air conditioning exhaust ports – falsely skewing temperature records upward – other experts noted. It is lead-heavy on assumptions, assertions and speculation – hydrogen-light on evidence.
But the most egregious miscarriage of science in this agit-prop exercise is its near-total dependence on worst-case scenarios conjured up by computer models. That’s where it gets its litany of “Day After Tomorrow” Hollywood disasters.
These climate models have never been validated by actual observations, notes Professor Robert Carter of the Marine Geophysical Laboratory at Australia’s James Cook University. Indeed, Australia’s own climate modeling agency (CSIRO) stresses that climate change scenarios are based on computer models that “involve simplifications of [real world] processes that are not fully understood. Accordingly, no responsibility will be accepted … for the accuracy of forecasts inferred” from its reports.“Modeling results are interesting – but worthless for setting public policy,” says Carter. But that is exactly how they’re being used.
Sure, it’s conceivable that Antarctica could melt, and cause sea levels to rise 20 feet, as Al Gore and the government con-artists suggest. Greenhouse gases would merely have to increase average annual Antarctic temperatures from their current –50 degrees F to +40 degrees for a century or two, to melt 200,000 cubic miles of South Pole icecaps. A mere 90-degree swing.
That may be as likely as having the planet overrun by raptors and T-rexes cloned from DNA in fossilized mosquitoes. But it’s conceivable. And in the realm of global warming politics, that’s all that matters. As MIT atmospheric physicist Richard Lindzen observes, “global warming has developed so much momentum that it has a life of its own, quite removed from science.”
As one climate activist group put it: “The task … is not to persuade by rational argument.” It is “to work in a more shrewd and contemporary way, using subtle techniques of engagement. The ‘facts’ need to be treated as being so taken-for-granted that they need not be spoken.” The strategy is to treat “climate-friendly activity as a brand that can be sold. This is the route to mass behavior change.”This is the kind of science, transparency, honesty and accountability we have come to expect over “human-caused climate chaos.”
If the congressional, administration and activist conspirators behind this massive deceit were in the private sector – peddling bogus drugs, rather than bogus science – they’d quickly become convicts. Instead of jail time, though, they’ll probably get bonus checks.

An Open letter to the NC Delegation to the US Senate from a Constituent

An Open letter to the NC Delegation to the US Senate from a Constituent

It is extremely important for those of us of the Christian faith to become involved in the government of our country. Especially today as our country is under the threat of dominion by socialism which, as Christians know, is anathema to Christianity. We have watched as our government, over the past handful of months gone form a democratic nation based on Judeo-Christian ethics and laws and British Common Law to a European form of socialism. Those of us who have lived thru most of the era of socialism sees it for what it is and recognize the overwhelming dangers to a democratic society socialism poses. But we have the two most recent generations of Americans who are not well versed in the dangers of socialism and the sly way I has of “sucking-in” the un-suspecting , like a form of political quicksand until a nation is so immobile it can no longer defend itself and surrenders to the soul-rotting cancer that the more experienced among us know as the hallmark of socialism.

The Cap and Trade Bill (The American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009) is the most recent attempt of the Obama Administration and the socialist national legislators in our Congress to so completely capture the United States in their web of deceit and domination that we will be bullied to shut up and accept socialism as inevitable and just allow them to roll over us and have their way.

This Christian is NOT so INCLINED!

I sent the following letter to the two Senators from North Carolina to, hopefully, strengthen their resolve to stand fast against the socialist onslaught. I encourage you to do the same. If we have any chance of saving our country we Christians must exercise our constitutional right to challenge our government and set their course aright. I have published the letter (on the internet) I sent to my Senators in the hope that it might encourage other Christians to do the same. You will find it below.

Please contact your Senators and urge them to vote “NO” on the Cap and Trade bill. I am completely convinced the future of America, as a democratic country, depends on the utter defeat of this heinous bill.

JDL

**********************
Dear Senator:

I respectfully ask that you vote against the “Cap and Trade” bill (The American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009) soon to come before the US Senate.

I am convinced the bill is one of the worse, if not THE worse bills to come before the Senate in its long history. The result of the bill will be higher taxes, higher prices on nearly everything the public buys, including essentials, high unemployment, and a geo-political shift in the nations of the world that would effectively remove the US from any leadership role for a very long time, if not forever. The bill is so badly disliked it is referred to, out here, as the “Destroy America Bill.”

Senator there would never be a “good time” for this bill, but there certainly could not be a worse time in the history of our country to ram this bill through the House and the Senate.

I respectfully ask that you vote no on the Cap and Trade Bill when it comes before your legislative body in a few days. I can assure you, Senator; your constituents will be watching how you vote with more than casual interest. We will be watching to determine how we vote when next you stand for election. If you vote in support of the bill, Senator, my vote, and many, many, others here in North Carolina will not be cast for you. Your career as a US Senator may very well come to an abrupt end.

This is one of those times when an elected official is expected to act in accordance with the wishes of his constituents. Nothing less is acceptable.

I have watched the House, as it dealt with this bill, and it certainly seemed the general electorate was far more aware of the contents of the bill than were the Representatives in the House. The Congresspersons in the US House give all indications of having voted for a bill they had not even read! That speaks volumes about the reliability of those national legislators and it does not reflect well upon their ability to make the right choices under pressure. Many of the members of our NC delegation, in the House of Representatives, have brought shame to their constituents here at home. We will not forget it in 2010 and beyond. I can only hope the Senators from North Carolina are far more familiar with the Cap and Trade bill than the delegation in the House!

Senator, we are asking such a small thing. We are asking that you be true to your promises and represent your constituents wishes and desires concerning this Cap and Trade Bill.

What the US House has done in passage of this bill is already being referred to as a “Betrayal” of the people of America. The near socialist-like reform brought about by the Democrats in charge of the Congress and government of the US, including the offices of the Obama Administration, have rocked the citizens who make up the grassroots of the electorate in America. There is an undercurrent of distrust and anger toward the current US government the likes of which I have never experienced in my nearly seven decades on this earth as an American. We are no longer becoming Balkanized - we ARE Balkanized!

Much has to change, Senator, for the US to be whole again. Those changes must begin in our national government. You can be a part of the healing process, a part of the process of bringing our nation back together again as a single people, by voting no on the Cap and Trade bill. Supporting the bill will only drive the wedge deeper between the two camps and ensure more pain for the American family as a result of higher prices on nearly everything, lost income due to lost jobs as more and more industry moves overseas in search of friendlier climes for business, and, of course, higher prices for petroleum products as we become ever more dependent on off-shore suppliers of fuel to run the engine that drives our nation’s economy. This stress will only feed the flames of distrust and anger seething just below the surface even now.

Now is the time, Senator, to represent the folks of your state who love this country and want to keep her intact.

Again, I respectfully ask that you vote no on the Cap and Trade bill (The American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009) when it comes before the Senate. However you vote, it will be remembered in the primaries and in the November election next year.

Respectfully yours,

We Must Stop the Destroy America Bill!

America Betrayed!

J. D. Longstreet

*******************

"This is the day the Lord has made! Let us rejoice and be glad in it!" But - there is little rejoicing in America today.

The Cap and Trade Bill, the one piece of legislation to come before the US House, so far this year, that could actually destoy this great country was PASSED by a narrow percentage of votes (219 t0 212) in the House last week and will now go to the US Senate for their approval and passage and then, on to the President for his signing it into law - which he will do with no hesitation.

It is time for people of faith to stand and be counted.

It gives me no joy to remind you that we told you this Congress and this President would do this to America. I refer, of course to the betrayal of America by the US House of Representatives when they passed the Cap and Trade Bill last week (June 26th, 2009 - another day that may yet live in infamy!)

The vote was 219 for and 212 against. Nevertheless, HR 2454 passed and now goes to the Senate for a vote there and then to the President for his signature.

It was a black day for Republicans because the bill could have been stopped had not the handful of Republicans who voted for the bill not done so. You need to remember their names:

Mary Bono Mack - California 45th District
Mike Castle - Delaware
Mark Kirk - Illinois 10th District
Leonard Lance - New Jersey 7th District
Frank LoBiondo - New Jersey 2nd District
John McHugh - New York 23rd District
Dave Reichert - Washington 8th District
Chris Smith - New Jersey 4th District
The primaries are coming up next year, 2010. This is far too important an issue to forget. We must not allow GOP voters to forget those from among their ranks who sold the party, and the nation, out with their support of this “Bill to Destroy America.”
In the meantime, we have to contact our US Senators and let them know, in no uncertain terms, how we feel about what the US House has done and explain, clearly, that we will not stand for them supporting this bill in the Senate. Let them know that you/we are “taking names” and we will not allow the memory of this issue to flag, or be swept under the rug when their name next shows up on our ballots. E-mail, fax, phone, or write (altho only the Good Lord, Himself, knows when a letter will actually reach a US Senator these days!) your Senators immediately, if not sooner. You can bet the democrat’s-in-charge are going to ram this bill through the Senate just as fast as they can to try to get out ahead of our protests. You can access the phone numbers, mailing addresses, and e-mail addresses for every senator in the US Senate HERE.
As is his wont, Alan Caruba has written a piece, an important piece, I might add, that all Americans should read. You will find it HERE.

I have included it in this piece because Mr. Caruba’s insight into this rogue Congress, we currently have in Washington, DC is, in my opinion, without equal and when he decides to share that insight with us, it is worth careful consideration. Please don’t leave this site before you read what he has written below.

The next meeting of the Tea Parties is set for Independence Day, July Fourth. It is an opportunity to rally Americans, who still care about their country, to a showdown with the US Senate, the Congress as a whole, and our socialist President. If there had been any question in your minds as to the intent of the Socialist/Democrat Congress and President toward destabilizing America, her economy, and her standing among the nations of the world, then the passage of the Cap and Trade bill should erase all doubt. If this bill passes in the Senate - the entire worldwide geo-political alignment of nations will shift almost overnight. America will no longer be considered the world’s leader. She’ll just be another member of the pack.

Americans who care about their country cannot let this pass. We must rally and defend our country.

Please read Mr. Caruba’s commentary below.

Betrayed by Congresss
By Alan Caruba
*********************

Mark it on your calendar; June 26, 2009 was the date that the House of Representatives betrayed every American in the name of saving the nation and the Earth from global warming.

It was the day that 219 Representatives voted for the obscenely misnamed “American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009.” Only eight Republican members of the House voted for it and 44 Democrats voted against it.

The bill, some 1,200 pages, was not read by those men and women voting on it because they were not permitted the time to do so or have their staffs do it. The co-author of the bill, Rep. Henry Waxman, admitted that even he did not know its full contents.

The vote was not based on science, on economics, or simple common sense. It was an exercise in raw political power exercised by the Speaker of the House and her minions.

The bill puts limits on the generation of “greenhouse gases”, primarily carbon dioxide, setting up an elaborate scheme for the sale and trade of so-called carbon credits that will ultimately be the equivalent of the bundled housing mortgage securities that produced the present threat to the nation’s financial system. It is a get-rich scheme that will benefit a few while penalizing every American with higher costs for electricity.

The limits are justified by the claim that the Earth is dramatically warming due to too much carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. The Earth has been cooling for the last ten years and is predicted to continue cooling for thirty years or more. Carbon dioxide plays no role in the warming or cooling of the Earth.

The bill is a direct attack on the nation’s coal industry. Fifty percent of all the electricity generated nationwide comes from coal-fired plants. The U.S. has deposits of coal sufficient to meet the nation’s needs for hundreds of years. It is cheap and it is abundant. No new coal-fired plants will be built in America in the foreseeable future. Coal that is not utilized here will be exported to China, a nation that is building new coal-fired plants and opening them on a weekly basis to meet its need for power.

The bill also allocates billions for the development of the two worst, most inefficient and unpredictable sources of electricity, wind and solar energy. Presently, these represent barely one percent of all the electricity generated in the nation. There is no way, nor should there be, they can replace coal, natural gas, and nuclear energy as a source of electricity. They are also the alleged source of “green” jobs.

As for “security”, a nation that cannot access its own sources of energy, coal, oil and natural gas, has no security if it must import them from other nations, some of whom are hostile to our values and system of government. The bill puts our fate in the hands of nations that support the goals of Islamic global domination. It puts the nation at the mercy of men like Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez and explains why President Obama made a deep bow to a Saudi prince earlier this year.

The bill must now go to the Senate where it is hoped that the upper body, though controlled by Democrats, will ensure it does not move on to the desk of the President.

If it passes in the Senate, the beginning of the actual decline of America as a great economy will be dated June 26, 2009.

Without abundant power, electricity for our homes, offices and factories; without gasoline for our cars and trucks, America will become a failed nation.

Catholic Colleges Supporting Abortion Advocates and Gay Marriage

The Cardinal Newman Society has posted an article naming 10 Catholic Colleges and universities that are promoting student internships with organizations that support abortion and/or Gay marriage.

Here's an excerpt from the article, "Ten Catholic Colleges Support Internships with Advocates of Abortion, Gay Marriage"

A national Catholic higher education organization has identified 10 Catholic colleges and universities that are promoting student internships with organizations whose missions or activities are directly opposed to the moral teachings of the Catholic Church, including on fundamental issues such as abortion and marriage.

“This discovery validates the concerns of so many thousands of faithful Catholic parents and students, that public scandals at Catholic colleges are just the tip of the iceberg,” said Patrick J. Reilly, President of The Cardinal Newman Society. “Under what definition of ‘Catholic education’ do students receive academic credit to work for leading pro-abortion organizations?”

Last week, CNS wrote to the presidents of these colleges and universities to inform them of the problems with their internship programs. None have yet indicated that they will take steps to remedy the problems.

The internship programs—along with concerns about theological dissent, weakening academic standards and declining campus culture at many Catholic colleges and universities—help explain why most students and recent graduates of Catholic institutions believe that abortion and gay marriage should be legal, despite the Church’s clear teachings to the contrary. That was one of the disturbing findings of a November 2008 study published by the CNS Center for the Study of Catholic Higher Education and titled “Behaviors and Beliefs of Current and Recent Students at U.S. Catholic Colleges.”

Go to the article here for a listing of the institutions involved.

Message from Focus on the Family Action, Inc.

Congress is considering two bills – the Hate Crimes Act and ENDA (Employment Non-Discrimination Act) – that would severely threaten our religious beliefs and our ability to share those beliefs. I invite you to join me in signing a Focus Action petition opposing these bills and asking Congress to stop them now.

Perfection Is Not Required To Be A Christian - Nor A Conservative

Perfection Is Not Required To Be A Christian… Nor A Conservative
A commentary by J. D. Longstreet
*************************

The Mainstream Media’s assault on evangelical Christian Conservatives is going to backfire on them. Some feel it has already begun. Consider the number of major news outlets in financial trouble today.

First of all, it is wise to understand that the mainstream media in the US is the voice of the Democratic Party. You must keep that in mind to be able to interpret what they disseminate as “news.”

The MSM is out of touch with real Americans, especially real Americans who subscribe to the Christian faith… and to parse it even more… real Americans who subscribe to the evangelical brand of the Christian faith. This disconnect has existed for decades now. And yet, the MsM continues to flail about either not recognizing the problem, or intentionally ignoring it - even to their own detriment.

If the MsM had even the least understanding of the Christian faith, especially the Evangelical Christian faith, they would know that perfection is not required to be a Christian. Making the attempt IS required, however.

The one tenant of the evangelical Christian faith that runs through their faith, as a binding thread, is that piece of scripture that says: “For ALL have sinned and fallen short ….” It is the commonality of ALL Christians. All Christians were sinners before becoming Christians and, guess what… they remain sinners afterwards! The difference is “forgiveness” of those sins, AND, the sinner’s never-ending quest to live a life as nearly in accordance to the teachings of Christ as a human being, with all the frailties of humanity, can ever hope for.

The hallmark of the evangelical Christian is their ability to instantly forgive the transgressions of others upon the transgressor recognizing his/her sins, confessing them, and seeking forgiveness. The arms of the evangelical church are flung wide open to accept, support, and even nurture those fellow “imperfect” Christians who have “fallen short”. It is a hallmark of the faith. To condemn the transgressor as somehow, worse than the rest of us Christians, is nothing short of hypocrisy… and hypocrisy is frowned upon as an arch sin, if there were, indeed, such a thing.

But you see, the Leftists and the MsM, which of course, is one and the same thing, have bought into their Hollywood version of Evangelical Christianity and they have come to actually believe their version is the true version. It, apparently, has never crossed their minds that they could be wrong! On a scale of one to ten, with ten being the worse degree of “wrongness”, then the MsM and the Democratic Party would be stuck on ten!

There is nothing quite so amusing as to watch the finger pointing of the left as it tries, vainly, to justify it’s own short comings by pointing to the short comings of others. They have honed it into a fine art. Having done so, they are totally unaware that it portrays them as kindergarten children seeking the acceptance of the adult in charge. But, finding an adult amongst the leftists is a near impossible task. They are few and far between. The end result is the increasing degree of pathos on the left. They have become, absolutely, pathetic.

The Left, meaning the Democratic Party, and, of course, the Mainstream Media, have all made a devastating error in judgment by assaulting Christian conservatives. For in doing so, they have assured their own elitism, locked-in their self-perceived perfection, and validated what all us “bumpkins” out here in flyover country already knew… and that is… there are none quite so fallible as those who perceive themselves infallible.

So, we leave the MSM on the sidelines of this life to sneer and point fingers and catcall in the vain hope of drawing our attention away from their mistake riddled, pitiful existence, as morality judges. They have become so captivated by their passion, that in their zeal they have forgotten their very own mantra: “Do Not Judge”!

The scriptures teach us to “Judge not, lest ye be judged”. The Great Teacher, Himself, the Rabbi, the Christ, also told us “Ye shall know a tree by the fruit it bears.” In other words, “recognizing by simple observation” is NOT judging. Therefore, this humble scribe, in order to cover his bases, asks your forgiveness for observing that the MsM is, once again, acting as the elitist hypocrites we already know them to be. That is, of course, a simple observation on my part. That said… alas, we must forgive them, too.

The End of America As We Know It

The End of America as We Know It!
J. D. Longstreet
****************************

Coming up Friday, June 26th, 2009, the Congress of the US will vote on a bill that will, if passed, change America forever. It will not be the America you and I currently know, as of today. It will be an America most Americans had hoped never to see. It will become an America The Founders of this nation had hoped to avoid. It will resemble more a developing nation than a “First-World” nation. In short, it will become that nation we conservatives have been warning The Left would produce if given the power to do so by the American electorate. In November of last year the American electorate did just that. As a result we are now launched on a downhill slide toward a"Godless" society of socialism.

Alan Caruba has written an important piece about what it all means and what it WILL ALL MEAN to us, as Americans, once this bill passes the Congress and is signed into law by the President. You need to read Alan’s commentary. He is getting reaction on it from around the world. It would seem that folks outside the US know more about what this bill will do, than Americans themselves. Altho disquieting, the fact that Americans are the least informed about their own government of any peoples on earth is not surprising. We have a “press,” that is completely “in the tank” for the Obama Regime and an educational system overseen/supervised by the left side of the political spectrum in America. We also have a religious community which, in recent years, has taken a decided turn toward the left and turned it's back on the scriptiures of the Judeo/Christiuan faith in favor of leftists politics creating what some have described as a "state church" which has, as it's mission, supporting the principles of the political left to the exclusion of the mission Christ gave his church upon his departure from this earth.

Americans of faith have a duty to reclaim that which is theirs. We desperately need to reclaim our churches and our country. First, however, we need to make our voices heard in Washington.

I never thought I'd have to say it, but I fear my government. I fear what they are going to do to my country and what they ARE DOING to my country. If you feel as I do then you must write, phone, fax, or e-mail your Congressperson and your Senators and ask them to vote NO on the Cap and Trade Bill. This Bill is more evidence that America has adopted the Pagan religion of the "worship of the earth" rather than the worship of God. It must be defeated.

Below is the important commentary, written by Alan Caruba, spelling out what we can look forward to, as Americans, if the Cap and Trade Bill is passed into law. Please take the time to read it and then contact your representatives in Washington and tell them to vote NO!

Supported by outright lies by the President about “clean” or “renewable energy”, and based on the greatest hoax of the modern era, “global warming”, on Friday Congress is reportedly going to vote on the 1,200-page Waxman-Markey “Cap and Trade” bill (H.R. 2454).

It would impose a huge tax on the provision and use of electricity in the nation.

Energy is the most vital resource America has and we have enjoyed abundant and affordable energy for our long history. That will all change if the Waxman-Markey bill becomes law.

It is based on the greatest hoax of the modern era, “global warming.” The Earth is presently ten years into a cooling cycle and it is estimated to last a very long time.

Calling carbon dioxide “a pollutant” is a lie. All vegetation on Earth is dependent on carbon dioxide. Putting Limits on carbon dioxide emissions is idiocy and lunacy.

For the nearly six months since President Obama assumed office and in league with the majority Democrat Party in Congress, the actions taken to date appear to have a single purpose, the destruction of the nation’s economy.

The Waxman-Markey bill is villainy on a grand scale. It is no accident that President Obama and his acolytes keep calling for “clean energy”, “energy independence”, and babbling endlessly about “green jobs” as the real jobs of Americans are systematically destroyed. Upon taking office, Obama rescinded the executive order to permit exploration of the nation’s offshore continental shelf for the wealth of oil and natural gas it possesses.

It is no accident that his Secretary of the Interior unilaterally cancelled 77 oil and gas leases or that, on March 25, the House of Representatives passed the Omnibus Public Land Management Act of 2009 that adds two million more acres of wilderness to the 107 million acres already “protected” by the federal government.

It is estimated that 300 million barrels of oil and 8.8 trillion cubic feet of natural gas lie beneath these “protected” acres. The government owns 607 million acres of land in a nation founded on the belief in the sanctity and power of private property, the keystone of capitalism.

Even if the bill were to become law, it totally ignores the fact that all the other nations of the Earth will continue to generate “greenhouse gases.” The United Nations Kyoto Protocol, intended to reduce these gases, purposefully exempted China, India, and all undeveloped nations. Its limits are, by definition, meaningless.

The Waxman-Markey bill will, by 2035, reduce the aggregate domestic product (GDP) by an estimated $7.4 trillion. Our present annual GDP is about $14 trillion. It is estimated to destroy 844,000 jobs on average with peak years seeing unemployment rise by over 1,900,000 jobs. It will raise electricity rates 90% after adjusting for inflation. Prices for gasoline and natural gas will rise by 74% and 55% respectively.

This bill will impoverish Americans and destroy the nation.

Out of 307 million Americans, I seriously doubt that more than a relative handful know what Cap-and-Trade means or that it is even being debated, but they, their children, and their grandchildren will, by the actions of this Congress, live in a very different, very costly America.

The Democrats in Congress and the present occupant of the White House, by their actions, must hate America. They pose the greatest threat to its future that has ever existed in our history.

Call, write, fax, and email your representatives in Congress. Let them know you will not stand by idly as they destroy America.

Religion in America now owned by the Left.

Religion in America now owned by the Left.
A Commentary by: J. D. Longstreet

**********************************************

I have come very close to washing my hands of organized religion. Reared in a devout Southern Baptist home, switching to Lutheran, in my mid twenties, I am grounded in the mainline Christian faith.

I believe the same things I believed when I was 20, or 40, or 60 years of age. Yet the church does not. The church has continued to give ground to political correctness, which is rooted in godless Marxism.

Good and evil cannot co-exist for long. According to Christ, Himself, “man cannot serve two masters”. So, YOU decide if the church YOU are a part of is serving God, or serving Mammon. I decided mine was serving the latter, and so, as instructed in the scriptures, I got out.

"The Church” (meaning the Christian Church) will have a humongous list of infractions to answer for on Judgment day.

The Great Reformer Martin Luther had a lot of things wrong. BUT, he had more right than he had wrong. I have great admiration for Bro. Martin. He saw a corrupt church and decided to do something about it. The 2nd greatest Christian movement in history happened as a result of Brother Martin’s actions.

The Christian community of the world desperately needs another Martin Luther. Our church has been hi-jacked, and splintered, and fractured, into numerous groups always at each other’s throats. In all the ecumenical struggles the church has lost it’s way. That, alone is bad enough, but what is worse, is that the leaders of the church have no interest in taking the church back to the correct path as outlined in the scriptures.

You see… we have created a hierarchy in our churches that has become drunk on raw power. To take the Christian church back, to the way Christ intended, threatens the power of those in places of authority in our mainline denominations.

When the hierarchy of a mainline denomination takes a church body away from the dictates of God’s word and celebrates one of the worse sins mentioned in the scriptures, a sin so evil it was referred to, in the scriptures, as an abomination, a sin so grievous that the punishment for it was death, then, Dear Reader, I need no further evidence that I, as a Christian, have no business in that body.

The evidence is right before our faces and yet… rather than “rock the boat” and stand for the dictates of God’s word, the average Christian in America, indeed, in the world, had rather sit quietly in the pews, on Sundays, and watch as the house which had formerly belonged to God, is slowly pulled down to the level of the lowest common denominator in society today.

But… it is much easier to do nothing.

The mainline Christian churches in America today, in my opinion, are too far-gone to save them. We need a new reformation. We need a leader to pull the Christians together who are sick at what their churches have become and organize us into a force for good in this world.

Look, Dear Reader, when a mainline church pulls that venerable old Hymn “Onward Christian Soldiers” from the hymnal and bans it from the music of that church, you have to know that the church has yielded the field of battle to the opposition.

When leaders of a congregation, or leaders of a denomination, are no longer required to set a moral example, and a spiritual example, for the followers of that denomination to aspire to… then that congregation has failed… that denomination has failed. It becomes a cancer eating away at the church, as a whole, until it has taken it beyond the point or resuscitation.

But, Dear Reader, one has to want to change for there to be real change. The church is showing no signs of a desire to mend its ways. None. On the contrary it is becoming more “apostate” every day.

We who dare to call ourselves Christian today must take stock of where we are, as a church, and what we are doing. It is long past time to assert ourselves and reclaim our Christian heritage, our places of worship and most importantly the “Great Commission” given us by Christ, Himself, as he left this world in our care.

When a frustrated Joshua stood before the Israelites, who were in the same situation we, as a church, find ourselves today. He uttered the words, which echo down through eternity and resound of the walls of every house of God around the world: “Choose ye, this day, whom you will serve! … As for me, and my house, we will serve the Lord!”

We, as Christians, need to listen to the words of Joshua today.

More Groveling By The US Congress

More Groveling By The US Congress.
A Commentary by J. D. Longstreet
*************************
Less than six months after Obama became President of the United States, the US Senate passed a formal apology for slavery. For what it is worth, the act is a non-binding resolution. It is said to acknowledge the fundamental injustice, cruelty, brutality, and inhumanity of slavery. Last year the US House of Representatives passed their own apology for slavery, as well. A number of states have passed apologies including, unfortunately, my own state. There are reports that a huge celebration is being planned for sometime next month. A pathetic gesture, I know, but, hey, these are liberals and everything with them is based on emotion and feel-good politics.

If you have read this far, you already suspect I am not happy about this affront to my southern ancestors and to me. And, just so the record is straight, as I said last year - I’ll be darned if I will apologize! I had nothing to do with it, and I refuse to be saddled with a blanket of guilt for something I had nothing to do with! I just want that to be clear! I feel NO NEED to apologize and therefore refuse to ACT as if I am sorry for something for which I am wrongly accused! Never!

Alan Caruba, a renown commentator and blogger, who happens to also be a friend, has an excellent piece on this very topic over at “Facts not Fantasy.” Mr. Caruba had this to say, last July, when The House of Representatives passed their resolution: “There are a lot of Americans, mostly liberals, who can only see what was wrong about American history. Morally it was wrong to import slaves and work them to death on plantations. Morally it was wrong to chase the native-Americans from their lands. Morally it was wrong to deprive Japanese-Americans of their rights and property during World War II. These things occurred in different eras and virtually everyone involved are dead. Why the present generation of Americans has to apologize for the actions of previous generations escapes my understanding.” You can read this insightful article HERE.

Alan was correct last year and his comments certainly are timely today - about eleven months later.

Last year I said the following: “We Dixicans know this arrow is aimed at the heart of Old Dixie. As a Dixican, I resent the heck out of that! Check your US history and you will find that SLAVERY WAS LEGAL IN THE US. It was “Northern Slavers” whose ships brought the slaves from Africa to this country. (And the ships of European slave traders). It was Northern Slavers, in America, who sold the Africans, at auction, in the New England states. Some of the richest families of the Northern states can trace their family fortunes directly back to the slave trade. And finally, for the record, the very first anti-slavery laws, in the US, were passed in the SOUTH!"

Reparations, anyone? Oh, the Congress assures us there is no way, legal or otherwise, that these resolutions can possibly open the door for reparations. You believe that? If you do, I have this bridge in Brooklyn, NY, in which, I suspect, you might show some interest. If you really, REALLY, DO believe that -may we suggest you get your wallets, pocketbooks, and checkbooks out and - assume the position.

Who, exactly, will be expected to pay those reparations? Huh? As Mr. Caruba so clearly pointed out – they’re all dead! Maybe better schools, yes, and a better public education system in this country, would have made it clear to American scholars the plain and simple fact that there is hardly a human being alive, of any race, who cannot trace his/her ancestry back to slavery… somewhere on this earth. We ALL come from ancestors who, at one time or another, were slaves. Heck, we even have countries, and nationalities of people, whose very names derive from the word “slave.” And, just for the heck of it, check the pigment in their skin.

Now if some folks want to press the issue of reparations shouldn't we discuss what we owe to those folks we call today “Native-Americans”?

OK, so maybe I’m being overly sensitive about this but, in all honesty, it surely does seem to me that Americans would be better served if the Congress would seriously look for solutions to modern day problems such as bankrupting the nation, and our children, and grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with their nationalization of America’s financial system and auto-making industry and the frightening speed with which they are tossing democracy overboard in favor of socialism, which has a proven record of failure, massive failure, everywhere it has been tried as a basis for society.

But, I suppose we shouldn’t expect too much from our current crop of “leaders.” I mean - they DID buy into the hoax of man-made global warming. Oh, yes, they bit –line, hook and sinker! And the American taxpayer is about to receive the bills for that, too.

I am of the opinion it is way past time for America to stop apologizing for doing all the things that made this nation great and much of the world green with envy, rather than as a result of recycling our trash! I am more than convinced that an American President ought not condemn the people of the country he/she represents by offering apologies to other nations on behalf of his own country while overseas – especially when a vast majority, or even a large minority, actually feels no remorse and no need to make such an apology. It is disingenuous, and it is certainly dishonest, and frankly, lacks the hallmark of “good taste.” It is, as an earlier generation of Americans would have said: “unseemly.”

What Happened to the New England Primer and a Slateboard?

by Jenn Sierra at Ft. Hard Knox

(Updated from a previous article, most recently published June 16, 2007)

Prior to the history of curriculum development, which began in the early 20th century, the currently-popular interpretation of the so-called “separation clause” of the First Amendment was not applied to the public schools or what was taught in the schools including in the subject of American History. The following entry in the Library of Congress reflects the general understanding of the Christian religion in the role of the founding of the United States through the 19th century:

The Continental-Confederation Congress, a legislative body that governed the United States from 1774 to 1789, contained an extraordinary number of deeply religious men. The amount of energy that Congress invested in encouraging the practice of religion in the new nation exceeded that expended by any subsequent American national government. Although the Articles of Confederation did not officially authorize Congress to concern itself with religion, the citizenry did not object to such activities. This lack of objection suggests that both the legislators and the public considered it appropriate for the national government to promote a nondenominational, nonpolemical Christianity.

Congress appointed chaplains for itself and the armed forces, sponsored the publication of a Bible, imposed Christian morality on the armed forces, and granted public lands to promote Christianity among the Indians. National days of thanksgiving and of “humiliation, fasting, and prayer” were proclaimed by Congress at least twice a year throughout the war. Congress was guided by “covenant theology,” a Reformation doctrine especially dear to New England Puritans, which held that God bound himself in an agreement with a nation and its people. This agreement stipulated that they “should be prosperous or afflicted, according as their general Obedience or Disobedience thereto appears.” Wars and revolutions were, accordingly, considered afflictions, as divine punishments for sin, from which a nation could rescue itself by repentance and reformation.

The first national government of the United States, was convinced that the “public prosperity” of a society depended on the vitality of its religion. Nothing less than a “spirit of universal reformation among all ranks and degrees of our citizens,” Congress declared to the American people, would “make us a holy, that so we may be a happy people.”

According to an Edsitement lesson on one room schoolhouses,

Laura Ingalls Wilder, author of the popular Little House on the Prairie books, was a teacher in a one-room schoolhouse… when she was just 15 years old.

Many students in the 18th and 19th centuries learned in such one-room schoolhouses, some of which were in churches, and helped each other learn to read from the Bible, and the Biblically-oriented New England Primer.

One such student I recently spoke to attended a one-room schoolhouse in the Midwestern United States in the early 1940’s. She recalled that every morning, the children would sing Good Morning to You to their teacher, say the Pledge of Allegiance, and pray. She explained that along with subjects such as math, science, English, and penmanship, they learned American History by reading from the original documents, and studying the lives of historical figures. They memorized portions and recited them for the class, and occasionally during school presentations for the parents and community.

Since students read both the Bible and the original founding documents, they learned American History from the perspective of the Founding Fathers, who often quoted the Bible, and used scriptural references in their writings.

In the early 20th century, social and political pressures were placed on the public schools by Atheist activists such as Madelyn Murray O’Hair, as accounted by American Atheists, and by communist organization members such as Earl Browder of the ACLU, who once called the American Civil Liberties Union, “a transmission belt,” for the Communist Political Association, according to federal whistle blower, Devvy Kidd. In 1953, the landmark case Brown v. Board of Education was the first famous example of the many times the ACLU has sought the application of the fourteenth amendment to the first amendment to override the will of the majority on behalf of a minority or individual. Later, according to American Atheist Conrad F. Goeringer:

Madalyn Murray [O’Hair]…was a plaintiff in the historic MURRAY v. CURLETT [1963] case which helped to end coercive prayer and Bible verse recitation in the public schools of America. She founded a series of organizations including American Atheists, wrote books, articles, and pamphlets, lectured at major colleges and forums throughout the country, and appeared in the media as an impassioned advocate for Atheism and the First Amendment. For years with her son, Jon Murray and her granddaughter, Robin Murray O’Hair, she remained an important part of the American cultural scene.

Also during the early part of the 20th century, the subject of curriculum development changed from a study for “curricularists,” who specialized in general curriculum development for colleges and universities to a field of educational psychology, according to Marshall, Sears and Schubert, in their Turning Points in Curriculum (pp. 19-20).

Jerome Bruner, a leader in the field of cognitive studies, published his book, Process of Education, (Cambridge: Harvard University Press, 1961) was instrumental in turning the field of curriculum development into a forum on how children and adults learn, and how educators can shape public thought.

When we understand the cognitive processes, we will certainly be able to design education that will use man’s potential for learning far more effectively than it has been used before.

This change in the role of education along with the legal “civil rights” precedents opened the door for today’s political and social activists of every persuasion to begin utilizing the national curriculum to push various social agendas. For example, feminist Petra Munroe, a member of Women Educator Activists, teaches curriculum development at the University of Oregon, and has written influential books in the field, such as Pedagogies of Resistance: Women Educator as Social Activists 1880-1960, and Engendering Curriculum History, according to her website.

David Barton, American historian, describes the shift from teaching American History by studying the lives and writings of the Founding Fathers (many of whom were Christian ministers) to studying American History form a more secular, “economic perspective”:

Because in the 1920s, 30s, and 40s, a group of secular-minded writers (including Charles and Mary Beard, W. E. Woodward, Fairfax Downey, and others) began penning works on American history that introduced a new paradigm. For this group, economics was the only issue of importance, so they began to write texts accordingly (their approach is now described as “the economic view of American history” and since the 1960s has been widely embraced throughout the education community)

The Gay Lesbian Straight Educational Network (GLSEN) according to its website,

Strives to assure that each member of every school community is valued and respected regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity/expression.

They do this through public policy campaigns, through promoting Gay-Straight alliance (GSA) student groups in the schools, through hosting workshops and providing resource materials for teachers to learn how to,

…make schools safer and more affirming for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender students.

Secular Humanist activists, through the Council for Secular Humanism / Campus Free Thought organizations, and Atheist activists, through organizations such as Americans United, have had a tremendous impact on the national curriculum, especially in the study of science, and social studies. Religion is no longer allowed to be taught in the public schools, but has been replaced with the secular humanist philosophy. In less than one century, schools in the United States have gone from one-room school houses run by the churches and local communities to support parents in educating their children, to national laboratories for re-shaping public thought.

Where will this “Progressivism” in our nation’s curriculum take us next?

Coming Soon to You: The State PC Church

by Bill Muehlenberg at Culture Watch

I have written extensively as of late about how religious freedom in the West is slowly but surely coming under attack. State-sponsored anti-Christian bigotry is on the increase throughout the Western world. Various forces have been warring against the free expression of faith. These include radical minority groups, secularist groups, the forces of political correctness, and meddling governments.

The reasons provided to justify this crackdown on religious freedom and expression often sound good: the need to prevent discrimination, vilification and the like. But the effect of various equal opportunity laws and religious vilification bills is to effectively silence the church.

And it is a lot sneakier way of doing things. If the state announced that all churches would be closed and all Bibles confiscated, there would be – hopefully – a huge public outcry. But these indirect and sneaky methods are really achieving the same thing. Religious freedom is being taken away, and soon the only churches will be those which have the government tick of approval.

This incremental, piece-by-piece approach seems to be working quite well. Most religious folk have no idea that the public expression of their faith is slowly being strangled. They do not seem to know or perhaps care that each day the state is intruding more and more in religious affairs.

The coming state-approved PC church is not just the stuff of conspiracy theorists. This site has documented numerous cases of this very thing. We are well on the way to the sort of brave new world scenarios often depicted in works of fiction and film.

Indeed, it reminds me of a 2002 film I saw recently, Equilibrium. In a futuristic police state, people are banned from all things which might trigger emotional responses: books, music, art. They are even forced to take drugs which suppress emotions. This is done for a very good-sounding reason; to maintain peace and stamp out war.

But of course the price for such coerced peace is too high – the loss of freedoms, and the deadening of humanity. So a group of rebels arise to fight the system. The film is well worth renting and watching.

It seems we may not be so far off today in the West. We live in an age in which the state knows that bread and circuses will do the trick. Keep the masses fed, and keep them entertained and amused. As long as that is done, most people won’t mind the steady erosion of other freedoms and the very things which make us human.

Thus even those who should know better – biblical Christians – are sleeping through this slow and steady rise of state-approved religion. Fortunately I am not alone in these concerns. Chuck Colson in the US is also greatly concerned about these trends. His most recent article also warns about the suppression of religious freedom.

He begins with these words: “In China, Christians have a choice: Join a government-approved church - which is constantly monitored by the authorities - or join an underground church. Thank heavens things like that don’t happen in the West, you may be thinking. Think again. In Britain, the government has begun sticking its nose in church business, telling churches what to do.

“According to the Daily Telegraph, starting next year, the British government is going to begin forcing churches and other religious institutions to hire open, practicing homosexuals. It will happen under the provisions of the so-called Equity Bill, which forbids discrimination against homosexuals or transsexuals. The law would ‘cover almost all church employees,’ according to Deputy Equities Minster Maria Eagle. ‘The circumstances in which religious institutions can practice anything less than full equality are few and far between,’ Eagle said. Church groups, she said, ‘cannot claim that everything they run is outside the scope of anti-discrimination law’.”

I have written up this case as well: http://www.billmuehlenberg.com/2009/05/21/is-this-the-end-of-christianity-in-england/

But Colson reminds us just where all this is heading: “What’s next - regulating the content of sermons? I’m not kidding. According to Eagle, ‘Members of faith groups have a role in making the argument in their own communities for greater’ acceptance of gays, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgendered people. Maybe it would simplify things if the government simply wrote the sermons for the pastors.”

He continues, “The Equity Law could lead to some interesting situations. What happens if a church, under pressure, hires a gay youth minister—and orders him to teach kids about the sinfulness of homosexual behavior? And I can only imagine the reaction of a British mosque when the religion police orders it to hire a lesbian secretary.”

What we have here is a case of governments “beginning to run the churches. And if they succeed, it will be the end of religious freedom in Britain. Legislation like the Equity Law should concern Americans. So-called ‘social reforms’ that begin in Europe soon wash up on our own shores. And then, what will happen to the Church? Will we put our congregations under the authority of Caesar? Or will we resist and, if need be, abandon our elegant buildings and, like our faithful brethren in China, form underground churches?”

Colson concludes, “The Bible teaches that the followers of Christ will be tested. We ought to be in prayer for the church in Great Britain, asking God to guide it as the government bears down. Second, we ought to be preparing for similar laws here. Many churches are already under great pressure by homosexual activists to violate their own teachings under the guise of ‘fairness’ - a much abused word. This, by the way, is not a hysterical rant. The threat is very real. Third, we ought to remind our neighbors that the First Amendment was written not just to protect the government from churches, but more so to protect churches from the government.”

Things in Australia fare no better. We are well down this path of state-approved PC churches. And if this does come to full fruition, in many ways we will only have ourselves to blame. There have been plenty of warnings about all this. The question is, do we take our faith seriously enough to stand up and do something about this. Or will we simply sheeplike take our emotion-blocking drugs as in Equilibrium, and in docile fashion accept what the government tells us to do.

The choice is really up to us.
